Reprint of Owl Flute and Pigeon Flute
Under the supervision of Mr. and Mrs. Tanaka of Yanagiya, a toy workshop in Tottori Prefecture (closed in 2014), we were able to reprint the pigeon and owl flutes, which were made by volunteers and collaborators in Tottori Prefecture who were involved in making the plaster molds, making the flutes from ceramic clay, and coloring them.
Yanagiya’s first owner, Tanaka Tatsunosuke, produced hundreds of toys, and his son and his wife took over the business. Due to old age, he closed his business in 2014, but in 2010, with the help of Mr. and Mrs. Tanaka, a volunteer group including our store, started the YANAGIYA REPRODUCT project to produce toys.
The pigeon flute and owl flute are unglazed clay flutes that are brightly colored. When the tail is blown, a lovely sound is heard.
